JANUARY 2017 NEWS

Weekday Practices Start Tuesday, Jan. 17

We are so excited for the official start of the 2017 season! Please see Skyline’s website for your team’s practice schedule, contacts, etc. - go to skylinelacrosse.com, select ‘Choose a Team’ from the ‘Teams’ menu, and select your player’s team. Then click ‘Schedule’ on the left panel. Please note that there may still be a few changes to practice days and times. Handy tip: from the schedule page, select ‘Options,’ and you can feed your team’s calendar directly to your Google, iCal, or Outlook calendar.

Cookie Sales

Everyone should have heard by now from your team cookie coordinator. Orders are due by Sunday, Feb. 5. Note that the pickup dates have been changed because some students are out of school President’s Day week. Pickups are now March 1 and 2. If you did not pay the fundraiser ‘opt out’ fee during registration, you are expected to participate. We have structured fees on the assumption that each family will sell at least 10 items. Thank you for supporting the club and helping to keep fees lower for everyone!

Merritt Parking and Drop-off Procedures

Please read these directions carefully and review the map prior to your child’s first day of practice at Merritt. Field space at Merritt is highly coveted. If the club disrespects either the parking and drop‐off regulations, or the field use regulations, we are in jeopardy of having our contract canceled. The Sheriff will be patrolling and citations will be issued. If you are cited, please do not argue with Sheriff or Merritt personnel, they are just enforcing the rules that apply to all field users.

Drop Off and Pick Up:  All drop off, pick up and parking must occur in Lot A only, please see map for details. Feel free to let your child out at a safe spot in Lot A and allow them to walk to the field on their own if they’re able. If you need to park and walk your child in, you must buy a parking permit and display it in your car. If you don’t display a permit, or you park in a faculty spot, you may be ticketed.

Coaches may park along the fence line in the second section of Lot A (marked with a blue X on the map) as long as they display their coaches’ parking permit.

Coaches will do their best to escort children from the field to Lot A when practice concludes. Parents should arrive for pick up on time so coaches do not have to linger at the fields after practice.

Timing and Field Use: Please do not drop your child off more than 10 minutes before his/her practice is scheduled to start. We are not allowed to use the fields earlier than reserved. If another group is on the field, please make sure kids know to stay to the side until their coach gives them the signal that it’s OK to get on the field. Our field reservation ends at 6:00 PM. At that time, coaches must make sure their teams have cleared the field and children should proceed to their pick‐up spot. Please double check the website for your team’s exact practice time, and arrive on time to pick up your lacrosse player.

If your child is assigned to play on the turf, please make sure they walk only on the tarps when they cross the track. Cleats are not allowed on the track at any time, so please have them wear flip flops and change into cleats once they’re on the turf. Please make sure your child knows not to play with any track and field equipment or to jump in the sand pit. Coaches do not want to have to act as monitors, but they will have to report any disrespectful behavior to the club and parents.

Water and sports drinks are allowed on the fields; all other food and drink is prohibited so please make sure snacks are consumed before or after practice.

Rainy Days: In the event of rain, practices assigned to Merritt grass may be canceled. We will send out notice of any cancelation as soon as we receive it.

Thanks so much for your diligence. It’s going to be a great season!
