Skyline Lacrosse is one of the oldest lacrosse organizations in California, first established in 1979. At that time, competition was among high schools such as University High in San Francisco and Novato High School, UC Berkeley and Stanford, the San Fran

  • 2017 SPRING REGISTRATION -- NOW OPEN!
Skyline Lacrosse - November News

Registration deadline 11/18 - don’t delay!

Registration for the Spring 2017 season is open, so register your lacrosse player online. Registration for all U8s and U10 girls is first-come first-served, while all other groups must attend player evaluations. The deadline to register is Nov. 18 (Nov. 10 for U14 girls), and we recommend that you register as soon as possible. You must register in order to participate in player evaluations.

Parent volunteers needed for evaluations

Parents, we need some adults to help check players in at evaluations. Time commitment is only about an hour, and what easier way to support the club? You’ll need to arrive 30 minutes before evaluation time.  You will be checking kids in as they arrive, confirming that they are registered and noting their pinnie number on the sign-in sheet. Sign up sheets below:

Nov 20 - http://signup.com/go/DLdP6c

Dec 4 - http://signup.com/go/Kfp52g

Evaluations: what to expect

Please make every effort to make your age group’s evaluation time(s). Specific dates, times, and locations are included in the confirmation email you receive when you register, and listed on the calendar section of the website. Skyline holds evaluations for U10 and up, primarily for team placement and to get a sense of players’ experience levels, so we know whether to register “A” or “B” teams with the NCJLA.

Evaluations are positive and age-appropriate. We do everything we can to avoid making cuts, but in some cases we have to cut or waitlist players (for example if we have too many players for one team but not enough for two teams). Player evaluations are in place to help us provide the most positive possible experience for every player, so they can develop their skills at an appropriate level.

What you need to do the day of evaluations:

1. Wear your uniform jersey with a number visible.  A number must be visible at all times. If you do not have a uniform, we will provide a numbered pinnie at check in.

2. Bring appropriate gear. All sticks and pockets must be regulation. We will not provide equipment at evaluations.

3. Bring water.

4. Please arrive 20 minutes prior to the scheduled start time to allow time for check in.

5. Dress for the weather.  Fields will not close due to rain, and these are the only dates that we have, so tryouts will proceed regardless.

Girls - introduce a friend to lacrosse

We have a special opportunity for a little extra lacrosse for returning players, and the perfect time to introduce a friend to the sport: Hat Trick Girls Lacrosse was formed in 2016 by former Skyline players to give back to the girls and the lacrosse community. The goal of Hat Trick is to get girls from U8 to U14 interested in lacrosse.

This fall, Hat Trick Lacrosse will run a FREE two hour clinic for girls new to lacrosse. No gear is necessary, however you must provide your own mouth guard. Although the clinic will be no cost, every player must have a current US Lacrosse membership which is $25 and good for the entire year. The clinic is open to any girls ages U8-U14.

New U8 division for first and second graders

Skyline is thrilled to offer a U8 lacrosse experience for the first time this year. The U8 program is open to girls and boys born between 9/1/2008 and 8/31/2010 (mostly first and second graders). Our developmental U8 program is a fun, non-competitive introduction to lacrosse and will consist of one practice during the week starting in late January and ending in late April. We will arrange a few scrimmages with other local clubs, but the level of commitment will be low and this program will be all about fun!

Planning a spring break trip? Important dates for spring 2017 season

Mark your calendars now! Practice begins on Jan. 17. Opening weekend for boys will be Feb. 24, and girls' games will begin on March 4. Post season events and playoffs will be held the second and third weekends of May.

Our mandatory Parent Meetings will be held on Jan. 10 (girls) and Jan. 12 (boys).

In order to accommodate the Oakland and Piedmont spring breaks, which occur at different times this year, no games will be scheduled the weekends of April 1 and 2 or April 15 and 16. Games will be scheduled on the weekend of April 8 and 9. Please schedule spring break trips so kids can be back in time for those games.
Teams must play a minimum number of games in order to be eligible for post-season play. The NCJLA is very unforgiving about canceling games due to low turnout, and teams can be excluded from post-season play or the entire club can be put on probation.

New uniform options

Girls: If your jersey from last year still fits, no need to order a new one. You may consider ordering a new kilt. We’ve opted for a new “skort” style (with shorts built in) this year. Skirts from previous years are still fine for the upcoming season (they look exactly the same - the only difference is that the new style has built-in shorts). We’ve also added optional shooter shirts, which you may purchase at registration.

Boys: All boys must order a new jersey. Last year, we discovered that our reversible pinnies were out of compliance with league requirements. New players must purchase a full uniform. The club will cover the cost of replacement pinnies for returning boys. Optionally, boys may order replacement shorts and/or a new shooter shirt. We’ve updated the designs, but last year’s are still fine to wear for the upcoming season.
