  • FALL BALL REGISTRATION -- NOW OPEN!
Skyline Lacrosse Club - Sept. News

Fallball registration is open!

We hope everybody enjoyed summer, and welcome back to the new school year.  As part of your fall planning, please include Skyline’s fallball program, which runs September 25 and October 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30. Appropriate for beginners and returning players, fallball is a great opportunity to build skills and have fun. Some age levels are starting to fill, so if you plan to participate, register now. Registration is open online.

This just in: former Major League Lacrosse star John Christmas will be running our Boys U14 fall program - we know our boys U14 players won’t want to miss out!

Tenacity Fall

Skyline girls: If Skyline’s Sunday fallball program doesn’t work with your schedule, or you just can’t get enough lacrosse, Tenacity is offering six week fall programs in Alameda and Orinda. Each hour and a half session will begin with stations that cover ground balls, stick work, defense, shooting, and more! Groups will be broken up by age and skill level. Registration and more information at http://tenacityproject.org/alameda-fall-ball/

Hand-down your old gear

Calling all families with extra, unused lacrosse equipment lying around! Skyline is facilitating a FALL gear donation program.  You have 3 options to donate your unused, extra gear.

1. Friday, September 2nd - Free Pick Up. If you put your gear on your doorstep, we will pick it up.

2. Saturday, September 3rd - Free Drop Off. You may drop off your lax equipment at : 10 Maxwelton Road, Piedmont, 94618

3. Sunday, September 25th - Free Drop Off. You may drop off at the first day of fall ball - regardless of age/gender. Skyline will accept all extra items throughout the course of the day.

Please email if you are interested in any of these options. Thanks in advance for your generosity!

The new age brackets: how does this change affect your lacrosse player?

The Northern California Junior Lacrosse Association is shifting from the U9/U11/U13/U15 system to age designations that are more in line with US Lacrosse recommendations: U8/U10/U12/U14. US Lacrosse is promoting small-sided games as a better way to develop young lacrosse players, so U8 games will be 4 v 4, and U10 games 8 v 8. Small sided competition provides each player more touches on ball, and a more age-appropriate developmental experience.

The age cutoff date does not change (it is still August 31), so if you have a child who turned 10 in July, s/he would play up to U12, while a child who turns 10 in September would play U10. Most 1st and 2nd graders will play U8, 3rd and 4th graders U10, 5th and 6th graders U12, and 7th and 8th graders U14.

The NCJLA is still working out many details such as how checking rules will apply at different age levels, and we will keep our community posted as we get more information.

Skyline alums give back

Skyline Lacrosse Club alumni Zoe Torok, Amelia Costello, Maria del Rosario Chan, Tai Owen, Elie Cole, Lily Keville, and Georgia Lichty (Piedmont High), and Zoe Benjemin (Oakland Tech) organized and led a youth summer lacrosse camp, Hat Trick Girls Lacrosse Camp. Not only was the camp a great way to share lacrosse with younger girls, but proceeds were donated to the Oakland Lacrosse Club, Skyline Lacrosse Club, and the Piedmont High School Lacrosse program.
