Skyline Lacrosse is one of the oldest lacrosse organizations in California, first established in 1979. At that time, competition was among high schools such as University High in San Francisco and Novato High School, UC Berkeley and Stanford, the San Fran

Last chance to register for Fallball!

Fallball starts this Sunday, 9/10. Skyline’s Fallball program runs for six Sundays -  9/10, 9/17, 9/24, 10/01, 10/08, and 10/15. Appropriate for beginners and returning players, Fallball is a great opportunity to build skills and have fun. Registration is open online.

For the second year, former Major League Lacrosse star John Christmas will be running our Boys U14 fall program - we know our boys U14 players won’t want to miss out!

Important changes to Skyline’s spring registration process

Heads up, Skyline families - we are making some changes to our 2018 spring season registration process. Starting this year, registration will be first-come-first-served, with waitlists maintained after we reach team capacity at each age level. For example, we might cap registration for U10s at 30 players - enough for two teams - and waitlist additional players until we have enough to form a third team.

Evaluations will be held for team placement, and to help the club decide whether to field A or B teams, but we will not make cuts at any age level. Registration for returning players (anyone who played on a team in spring 2017) will open on 9/15, and registration for new players will open on 9/30.

Why did we make this change? The new system is better aligned with Skyline’s mission (see below), it is closer to other NCJLA clubs’ policies, and it helps us maintain appropriate roster sizes without having to cut players. Our goal is to avoid teams that are too large (kids don’t get enough playing time) or too small (teams have to forfeit games).

What does this mean for our families? You should register your child as soon as possible after registration opens. Plan to register on 9/15 and keep an eye on your emails. If you forget to register, and an age group fills, you will be placed on waitlist.

What if I have questions? Please check our FAQ. If your question is not answered in the FAQ, please email admin@skylinelacrosse - we will answer and post your question to the FAQ. Someone else probably has the same question!

Save the date for player evaluations

Player evaluations for spring season 2018 will be held at Bishop O’Dowd High School on 10/29 and 11/19. Your lacrosse player should attend both dates. No evaluations are held for U8 players or U10 girls, because the NCJLA does not offer an A division at those levels.

Skyline Lacrosse Club’s new mission statement

Skyline’s Board has adopted an updated mission statement: Skyline Lacrosse is  a non-profit, volunteer, athletic organization dedicated to teach, grow and honor the sport of lacrosse. We strive to enhance and improve participating players’ skills and foster an environment of sportsmanship and teamwork while providing a fun, positive, and enriching experience for players.

Under this mission, our guiding principles are to foster:

  • Players’ development of skills and love of lacrosse
  • Sportsmanship and community
  • Opportunities for play

Fallball equipment exchange

Have gently used equipment to pass on to a new player? Looking to pick up a hand-me-down pair of goggles or a stick? We will be holding an equipment exchange on the first day of fall ball. Bring your gently used lacrosse gear to donate, and stop by the equipment exchange table to take something home.

Volunteers needed

Skyline is a community based lacrosse club, operated primarily by volunteers. We have a number of volunteer roles that urgently need to be filled. If we cannot find volunteers in our community to take on essential tasks, we will have to hire staff, which will dramatically increase the cost for players to participate. Please consider volunteering.

We need volunteers for two special projects:

  • Manage equipment exchange. Coordinate collection of used gear, and oversee distribution of gear at fallball and at January parent meeting.
  • Coordinate removal and disposal of broken goals from Merritt practice fields. Anyone have a truck?

With several of our amazing board members rolling off the board in 2018 and 2019, when their kids graduate the program, we are seeking a few parents willing to take on important board positions. Board service is a great way to support the club and use your expertise to make strategic club decisions. Most board positions require a commitment of 4-8 hours per month. If you are interested in a board position, please contact Monica Yu at - the following positions will be open in 2018 or 2019:

  • Fields: manages reservations for field resources and relationships with our facilities partners - this critical role ensures that our kids have fields to play lacrosse!
  • Equipment: ensures that all our teams have the equipment they need for a successful season by overseeing the purchase and distribution, storage, and repair of equipment.
  • Spiritwear Coordinator: manages process for ordering and distributing bags, hoodies, tees, and other spiritwear items.
  • Girls’ Coordinator: recruits coaches for girls’ teams, coordinates coach training and support, opportunities for extended play, etc.
